Our Story

Roberto and Teresa Bruno, siblings deeply rooted in their hometown of Altavilla Irpinia, embody a profound love for their land and its ancient winemaking traditions. In 1999, fueled by a shared passion and Teresa’s determination (backed by funds originally saved for her wedding), they founded Petilia in the heart of Campania’s Irpinia mountains. Here, nestled among vineyards at altitudes starting around 1,000 feet, they meticulously cultivate varieties like Greco di Tufo, Falanghina, and Aglianico, each thriving in the region’s volcanic soils. Roberto, initially trained in physics, found his true calling in winemaking, eschewing an academic career to focus on Greco di Tufo. With Teresa by his side, managing sales and marketing while never straying far from the vineyards, they have nurtured Petilia into a dynamic and award-winning winery. Their commitment to organic farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking reflects their reverence for Irpinia’s natural bounty and their dedication to preserving its heritage for future generations. Through innovative projects, Petilia continues to push boundaries, crafting wines that celebrate the complexity and richness of their beloved terroir.
