Goriska Brda, Slovenia
Step into the world of Klet Brda Winery, where the collective dreams of 450 families converged in 1957 to survive while under the rule of communist Yugoslavia, but now can thrive amidst Slovenia’s independence since 1991. Nestled in Slovenia's captivating Brda region, at the foothills of the Julian Alps, our vineyards thrive in a terroir defined by limestone-rich soil and a unique Continental-Mediterranean climate blend. Here, grape cultivation is an art—a practice devoid of irrigation, pesticides, and fertilizers. On steep, small vineyards where tractors can't tread, every grape is meticulously hand-harvested, a testament to our commitment to hands-on craftsmanship.
At Klet Brda, we seamlessly weave tradition and innovation, marrying native grapes like Rebula and Sauvignonasse with international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Our winemaking ethos combines modern technology with sustainable practices, resulting in wines that mirror the rich tapestry of our region. Recognized by local chefs, our wines grace the tables of almost all starred restaurants in Slovenia, a testament to their exceptional quality. With over 67 years of experience, Klet Brda continues to shape the future of winemaking, creating wines that echo the essence of our people and the land we call home.
